The first night we got the idea in our heads was after a high school function for the graduating senior class. We were walking
around a park at night and somehow got on the topic of the Hospital. We all agreed to go. We didn't go in but we drove by
a number of times and seeing the water tower and smoke stack from the power plant gave me chills. Two days later, Hoodie
and Bandit and I went and explored the main building. A very cool experience which I will never forget. I had never done
anything like it before. I was nervous because: A. we were tresspassing and weren't supposed to be there and B. I had no
idea what we'd find. Great fun.

Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of human
civilization. Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as infiltration, although some people consider infiltration to
be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites.

Our History
It was almost the end of our senior year and a group of about 8 of us decided we wanted to do something adventurous. We ended
up exploring a nearby forest in the rain. I remember it was at night and we only had one flashlight and we would turn off
the lights and go around scaring eachother and there was something really exciting about it. We started jokingly telling ghost
stories and one of my friends mentioned an abandoned hospital that really seemed to excite everyone. We made it back to my
house and managed to find a website all about it and it really inticed us. One of my friends claimed to know where it was
and we followed him out in two cars. After a few phone calls, we were able to find it and I still remember my heart dropping
when I saw the silhouette of (what my imagination told me was some sort of crematorium.) the smoke stack from the power plant.
We didn't explore it that night, but from that night on, I was obsessed with exploring.
It's somewhere between an extreme sport and an art form. Theres a whole process, from studying up on the location, entering,
to photography and there's even a code of ethics.
